Nebulabio is a specialized antibody discovery and engineering team focused on generating chicken-derived monoclonal antibodies for research, assay development, and translational antibody programs. Avian immunization offers a practical route to high-affinity binders against highly conserved mammalian proteins, peptides, and conformational epitopes that often show weak immunogenicity in rodents. Nebulabio Chicken Antibody Platform

Chickens generate antibody diversity through gene conversion and somatic hypermutation in the bursa of Fabricius, creating a repertoire that is often complementary to mammalian repertoires. We access antigen-specific B cells from immunized birds, naturally exposed or convalescent flocks, and project-defined naïve sources. Chicken-optimized antigen probes and multi-parameter sorting enable isolation of single antigen-binding cells, followed by single-cell sequencing to recover paired variable regions. Recombinant production is configured in mammalian, avian, insect, or microbial hosts depending on the antibody format, with support for full-length IgY and recombinant fragments such as Fab and scFv.

Principle of Chicken-derived Antibody Production

Chicken antibody diversification differs from mammals, relying heavily on gene conversion in the bursa of Fabricius and subsequent somatic hypermutation during affinity maturation. This evolutionary divergence enables robust responses against epitopes that are conserved in mammals and therefore less immunogenic in rodent hosts. The platform captures antigen-specific chicken B cells through probe-based single-cell isolation or configured library routes, recovers paired variable region sequences via chicken-optimized amplification and sequencing, and reconstitutes antibodies in recombinant formats suited to downstream assays. The resulting antibodies retain the binding specificity of the original avian immune response while enabling consistent production and format flexibility.
